If the goal is to take down Hanso, why in gods name have TPTB not released the fragments for codes that were leaked many, many hours ago? If you wonder who TPTB are, go to ARG!!! and read this post. Be sure to follow the link t0 Matt's letter. What sucks about this is that some of us are really committed to saving the world. Sadly, it seems that our handlers are on a M-F 8-5 schedule. Most uncool for those of us who work during those hours, and can't check up because our internet activities are monitored. So we wait, and wait, and wait for a whole saturday and we get nothing for our trouble.

The guy who runs Arg!!! has a bad attitude, but he's a friend of mine, very smart, and helped me out with setting up this blog. I'm starting to think his bad attitude is justified.

A New Twist in the Lost Experience

Matt the Pale has two new codes. I haven't had a chance to check his sources, but given his history so far, and the comments to this post on Lostexperienceclues, I'm willing to think that the codes really are where he says they are.

So, now we gotta search for codes that unlock fragments which haven't been released on hansoexposed?

So I wake up this morning and hear two more codes are released. Then I log into Hanso Exposed, and the count seems to indicate that no more fragments have been released. What gives?
1. Somebody disinforming us about the last two codes.
2. Codes being released before fragments.
3. Something up with my browser, which I really don't think is the case.

I'm thinking the first clue for the next code'll hit the ninja's blog about four-five hours from now. That wil give those Aussies a chance to get in on the action during prime early evenin' surf-time, and will also give the early risers in London something to do. It's prime time for a big weekend change-of-pattern, which I belive we're about to see.

The codes are going to get more difficult to find, probably because those Hanso fixers are closing in on Rachel and she can't take so many chances as she did early on.

And here's a question: Does anyone remember a guy a few years back named Hatori Hanso? Wonder if he's a relative of Magnus and Alvar . . .

If you came in late, this might not mean much. There is a glyph that was never found, but the code was entered by one player(?) who didn't share. Somebody finally did a workaround and shared it with the rest of us. I still haven't see an image of it. Wonder what was up with it?

Getting Started

The Lost Experience is well under way. This post will cover the essentials that you need to know in order to jump right in. Most of the links that you really need are on the sidebar to the right. I've thrown in some extras, too. More links will be added as we go along. You need to have the latest Flash installed to view most of the important sites. You also need a computer that can handle multimedia, because you'll be seeing a lot of it. The links on the sidebar open in new windows. The ones embedded in the body text don't, so you'll need to right-click and choose from the menu if you want a new window for those.

Right now, play is centered on assembling a set of 70 video clips and placing them in the correct order to make a movie that will reveal important information. In order to view the clips, it is necessary to find a series of codes which are hidden in glyphs, which are rectangular graphic objects. Here is one example of a glyph. The graphic in the intro to Hansoexposed (the site where you register, enter the codes, and view them) is also a glyph. When you log in at Hansoexposed, you will see a count for the number of film fragments that have been released and the number that you have downloaded. Presumably, once the film has been assembled, play will move into the next act. Once you've entered a code, you should check the major blogs and share it with them if they don't have it yet, but make sure they really don't have it before you post it to their comments.

The essential sites are listed on the sidebar to the right. The first nine, marked with asterisks, are the ones where new information, glyphs, and clues to finding them are most likely to be found. The next three -- marked with plus-signs -- are blogs run by insiders who get information the puppetmasters (people who design the game and release information) from time to time. The rest are the biggest fanblogs and the Lostpedia sites. Read the comments on the fanblogs for codes, clues, and brainstorming ideas when you know there are codes that have not yet been found.

Catching Up

The backstory is long and complex. It involves a globe-trekking activist and a ship built for Hanso that a lot of people are speculating will turn out to be a time-vessel. Once the site is up, perhaps we'll have time to delve into that particular theory. Here are a couple of good places to catch up. You can spend quite a while exploring the Lostpedia and watching the videos that Rachel Blake made in earlier stages of the game. Lostpedia is searchable for both Lost Experience and Lost television show concepts, characters, and places. It also has a list of tools that might be handy for the game. Don't freak out if you don't have Photoshop or don't know what an ASCII converter is. Hardly anyone has all the tools on the list. Many people have very few of them. Eventually, I will add links to some of the tools that can be found online.

If you post comments at the Other Girl and Lost Ninja sites, you should be aware that the second season is completing its first run their respective countries. Be courteous and don't post spoilers that would ruin the end of the second season for a first-time viewer.

Recent developments include a Rachel Blake interview by Doc Johnson of Entertainment Weekly, who revealed one of the earlier glyps. (Thanks to the incomparable Lostexperienceclues for the tip-off).

The code entry field at Hansoexposed doesn't seem to be case sensitive. If you are able to highlight an individual code and copy it (just the code, with no spaces or extra text), you can right-click on the code entry field and paste it in.

If you're interested to know where they were found, so as to get an idea of the cross-media and intercontinental nature of the experience, see Matt the Pale's very nice fragment page. Fragments usually end up on Lostopedia pretty quickly once a few people figure out where a glyph is and the code begins to spread. Hanso Exposed // Fragments is another good page to keep your eye on (thanks to The Lost Experience blog).

If you want to find clues on your own, you just have to check Hansoexposed to see when new codes are released, then surf the major sites and read the blogs. Some of the sites marked with the asterisks on the sidebar have more information than meets the eye, so you might need to search for them in the Lostpedia Lost Experience pages to find passwords and articles on their known functions. You can also contact this blog by email or comment, and I will post catch-up tips as needed.
